Daily OTT messaging volumes overtake SMS

Informa Telecoms & Media predicts over-the-top messaging traffic to reach 41 billion per day compared to 19.5 billion for SMS.

The total number of messages sent per day via OTT applications has overtaken peer-to-peer SMS, claimed Informa Telecoms & Media on Monday. According to the research firm, over-the-top messaging volumes worldwide average 19.1 billion per day, compared to 17.2 billion P2P SMS messages.
