The Pacific Telecommunications Council (PTC) released the first Pacific Telecommunications Council Broadband Report today. The Report provides an in-depth
analysis of Fiji’s current broadband environment, including the issues, challenges, and opportunities concerning broadband deployment in the country and elsewhere across Asia-Pacific.

Led by editor Elizabeth Fife, Ph.D., Co-Chair of PTC’s Research Committee and Associate Director of Industry Studies at the University of South California’s Marshall School of Business’s Institute for Communication Technology Management (CTM), Broadband in Fiji: A Micromarket Case Study is the
result of a large-scale collaboration between members of the PTC Research Community and the broader PTC Community.

Key questions addressed in the Report include:
1. How can demand and the market environment best be cultivated?
2. Who will pay for and maintain the infrastructure? How will commercial viability be achieved?
3. To what extent can models from other markets provide insight?
4. What lessons from Fiji are relevant to other markets?

As part of its Community Initiatives, PTC will release a new Broadband Report annually. Each Report will concentrate on an individual micromarket and offer insights about the key features that will push broadband forward in other non-obvious emerging markets with different dynamics and resources
throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

PTC is the leading membership organization for telecommunications professionals with interests in the
Asia-Pacific region. PTC’s members are found worldwide, and membership is open to all who share an interest in the development and beneficial use of telecommunications and related technologies in Asia-Pacific, including the Americas, Asia, Oceania, and the Pacific Islands.
