BT resurrects dormant undersea fibre to connect Scilly Isles

BT has unveiled plans to bring high-speed broadband services to the Isles of Scilly, a sparsely-populated group of islands lying approximately 45 kilometres off the U.K. mainland. The £3.7 million project will see BT reuse fibre optic cables that have been lying idle on the Atlantic seabed for around three years, the telco said.
