KT CEO urges telcos to embrace virtual goods, avoid another WAC failure

Virtual goods market is ″our destiny″, says Suk-Chae Lee; as it stands, likes of Google and Amazon are getting ahead though.

The move to all-IP broadband networks will trigger a market for digital goods and services that telcos need to become a part of in order to survive, according to Suk-Chae Lee, CEO of South Korean telco KT. The big over-the-top (OTT) players like Google, Facebook and Amazon are building strong businesses in cyberspace, Lee said at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona earlier this week…
