Level 3 Communications, Inc. today announced its subsidiary, Level 3 Argentina S.A., has been awarded the ISO/IEC 27001:2005 Certification for the Advanced Security Testing (AST) service in its data center in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
The ISO/IEC 27001:2005 Certification is an internationally recognized standard that helps ensure the practice of adequate and proportionate security controls to safeguard customers’ information and intellectual property assets. Granted for a period of three years, the Certification was approved after two extensive audits conducted by TÜV Rheinland, a provider of technical, safety and certification services.
“This certification is of great significance because it underscores the extensive measures Level 3 has implemented to protect our customers’ personal, confidential data and information systems,” said Gabriel del Campo, Level 3’s senior vice president of Data Centers for Latin America. “The Certification required comprehensive effort to define the best strategy; adding new roles, functions, processes, and procedures; and implementing technology improvements including extra controls to safeguard our data center services environment.”
Level 3’s AST services are a suite of solutions that protect confidentiality, integrity and availability of our customers’ information systems. It is a preventive security consultation service that assesses and analyzes information system risks and vulnerabilities in a timely manner.
