Deutsche Telekom International Carrier Sales & Solutions (ICSS), the international wholesale arm of Deutsche Telekom AG, today announced the successful launch of a new IP PoP (Point of Presence) in Istanbul.

Set-up was completed only three-months after signing a cooperation agreement with partner Turkcell Superonline (TSOL). The quick implementation time demonstrates the conviction of both parties that the project will play a major role in contributing to market development in Turkey.

The Istanbul IP PoP is situated at one of the most frequented and important data centers in the city. Chosen due to its strategic location as a gateway between east and west, this site will provide Deutsche Telekom’s high-capacity IP service to carriers, service providers, content networks and enterprises in Turkey and surrounding countries.

Holger Magnussen, Senior Vice President Deutsche Telekom International Carrier Sales & Solutions, said: “Turkey will become an important ‘hub’ for IP data exchange in the region. Together with neighboring countries there are valuable opportunities for the global IP transit industry to connect to regional infrastructures with our reliable, high-quality network.”
