U.K. looks ahead to 5G mobile but most telcos are still working hard on 4G.

It's been a quiet week in telecoms, in no small part due to the fact that our American cousins are prioritising turkey and pumpkin pie over spectrum licensing and data traffic. But while Thanksgiving feasts were taking place on one side of the Atlantic, something happened on the other that left me feeling slightly nauseous. U.K. regulator Ofcom used the expression "5G". I'm sure to many people that's no big deal, but I've not yet come to terms with the whole LTE = 4G thing... and the less said about certain U.S. telcos describing HSPA services as 4G the better. For me, the fourth generation of mobile technology will come with LTE-Advanced and we're not there yet…
