EE LTE network goes live

O2 praises rival as high-speed mobile broadband services launch in 11 cities; EE aims to improve coverage at rate of 2,000 square miles per month.

The U.K. saw its first fully-fledged mobile '4G' launch on Tuesday, when EE switched on its LTE network in 11 major cities. "This morning we have the first customers starting to use the service," said EE chief executive Olaf Swantee, speaking at a broadband event in London. Swantee said he was "proud" to have brought LTE infrastructure to the U.K. and expressed confidence that the country has now caught up with some other countries in terms of 4G rollout…
