ZTE Corporation, a publicly-listed global provider of telecommunications equipment, network solutions and mobile devices, today announced it has won a global system for mobile communications railway (GSM-R) contract with Russian Railways.

GSM-R is an international wireless communications standard for railway communication and scheduling. The contract, valued at over $100 million, provides total solutions including Scheduling System, Intelligent Network, Interception & Recording, Transmission, Power, and Terminals for railway lines from Saint Petersburg to Bulovskaya. As one of the world's largest GSM and GSM-R equipment providers, ZTE's new generation SDR-based GSM-R products have passed European Integrated Railway Radio Enhanced Network (EIRENE) specifications and received a certificate from TüV Rheinland, a global technical, safety and certification service provider.

“ZTE is pleased to partner with Russian Railways,” said ZTE Vice President Yang Jun. “We are confident that our GSM-R will provide reliable communications and scheduling for more railways.”

ZTE continues its leadership in the GSM-R field with partnerships in China, Vietnam, Uzbekistan and Russia, providing complete solutions for a more efficient and safe railway system.
