Friday Review: Who's sorry now?

Would-be Nokia smartphone owners feel they have been lied to as Finnish vendor apologises for 'confusion' caused at demonstration of Lumia 920.

Nokia investors are probably feeling pretty sorry for themselves. The Finnish vendor's share price has taken another hit this week, closing at €1.93 in Helsinki on Thursday, down 15% from the start of the week, down 54% from its six-month high of €4.17 recorded in late March, and a mere 1/14th of what it was in late 2007 when the stock at times traded at above €27. Why? Well, unfortunately for Nokia, the market did not like its new range of smartphones, its first Lumia devices based on the new Windows Phone 8 operating system. In fact, the vendor's share price fell by 10% during the course of the presentation of the phones – including the flagship Lumia 920 – on Wednesday. It was not necessarily all about the phones themselves, which, despite features such as wireless charging, NFC, and the vendor's PureView technology designed to improve imaging capabilities…
