Public sector network specialist Updata has been awarded full DNSP Public Services Network (PSN) certification from the UK Government's PSN Authority. The certification, which follows a series of major local authority network wins in the last 12 months, enables Updata to support Local Authorities transition to PSN compliance, connect to the Government Conveyance Network for cloud services and effectively enable shared services. As a result, Updata’s public sector customers will be in prime position to achieve the significant cost savings and efficiency gains promised by the PSN.
Today’s announcement is further evidence of Updata’s continued commitment to PSN, and comes as a result of investments made to the continuous improvement of internal procedures, staff development and better network resilience and security. Updata’s DNSP service has been fully audited in accordance with the NGN security standards and via the CESG Assured Service (Telecoms) scheme. The latter ensures that network services supplied by Updata are accredited to protect information up to Impact Level 2-2-4 level (2 for confidentiality, 2 for integrity and 4 for availability), which is the baseline standard for PSN.
Following certification as a fully approved and accredited supplier of PSN DNSP services, Updata can now act as a Direct Network Service Provider (DNSP), providing PSN and GCN connectivity for local authorities, central government and other PSN Service Providers.
Craig Eblett, PSN Programme Director at the Cabinet Office, comments: “Updata is to be commended for the commitment it has shown to the Public Services Network initiative since its inception. The company’s success in PSN DNSP certification is to be welcomed as the public sector seeks to realise the cost savings and efficiency gains of shared services and flexible working as delivered by PSN.”
In the last 12 months, Updata has developed and deployed six PSN-ready networks at local authorities and healthcare trusts across the UK, and it is actively in dialogue with customers about their PSN planning.
Richard Bennett, Managing Director at Updata, comments: “This is a significant milestone for Updata, and congratulations to the Updata teams who worked so hard to achieve this certification. The fact we have achieved this is a clear indication of both our professionalism and our sustained commitment to supporting our public sector customers as they deliver cost savings and efficiency gains via the PSN.”
