Vietnamese operator wins new spectrum in Peru and announces plans for East Timor business.

Viettel this week won additional mobile spectrum in Peru and announced plans to set up shop in East Timor as it continues with its plans to expand further outside its home region. The Vietnamese operator announced that it made an offer of $48.4 million to secure spectrum in the 900-MHz band in a contest organised by and Peruvian investment agency ProInversion, in which it was ultimately the only entrant. Viettel Peru's bid included a commitment to invest US$324 million in infrastructure…
