Mobile industry caught up in booth babe dinner date outrage on eve of International Women's Day.

"Sometimes it's hard to be a woman," sang late country music star Tammy Wynette in 1968. The legendary crooner probably never envisaged her famous lyrics being used to introduce a round-up of telecoms happenings, nevertheless there is no more appropriate way to paraphrase a week that saw International Women's Day coincide with a new GSMA report into how mobile can improve the lives of women living on less than $2 per day. Normally that would be reason enough to cram in a hastily conceived Wynette reference; however it was the fallout resulting from the actions of Russian OSS/BSS provider CBOSS during last week's Mobile World Congress that really sealed the deal.
