Friday Review: The data dance

As a new study looks at the impact of certain handsets on data networks, Total Telecom comes up with a novel way of portraying the wireless industry.

The return to the office post-Christmas brought with it some serious thinking-outside-the-box for the Total Telecom staff. Of the various wacky suggestions put forward this week for projects for the coming year, my favourite was this: instead of signing up speakers for a standard conference session, let's represent the mobile industry through interpretive dance! The rest of the team immediately jumped on the idea. "You could get a group of dancers to represent data traffic and have them hurl themselves at someone dressed as a base station," someone offered. Names omitted to protect the terminally deranged. "But how would we do 'cloud'?" came the question. By this point I was keen to get involved: "Well, with dry ice, of course…
