Friday Review: Screaming blue Murdoch

Closure of U.K.'s the News of the World has far-reaching implications; plus the week's news highlights.

In last week's Friday Review I looked at the growing importance of social networks in daily communications. Seven days later and I'm glued to the #NotW hashtag on Twitter as the latest developments unfold in the phone-hacking scandal that brought down the U.K.'s biggest selling Sunday newspaper the News of the World. And I'm not the only one. This is one of those "hand of history" moments that could change the face of journalism in the U.K. and we can't get enough of it. Here in the rarefied atmosphere of Total Telecom, it's hard to imagine what it must be like to work in a newsroom that fosters the kind of culture that could lead journalists to hack into the voicemails of some of the most vulnerable in society in order to get a story.
