Security issues in India, U.S. bad news for Chinese telecoms kit makers, to the benefit of their Western competitors.
Security concerns in some of the world's biggest markets over telecoms equipment from China poses a serious threat to Chinese vendors' growth plans, while opening the door for their Western rivals, analyst firm iSuppli warned this week.
And indeed, news from the global telecoms market in the past seven days serves to back up that theory, although there was some good news for the Chinese manufacturers as well.
"The [Chinese] vendors face serious opposition in several of the largest markets left to penetrate," said Lee Ratliff, senior analyst for broadband and the digital home at iSuppli, referring in particular to India and the U.S., where perceived security risks from using Chinese-made kit have been big news.
"Having already picked the low-hanging fruit, these companies may find it more difficult to grow in the future than they have in the past,"…
