Total Telecom has launched the World Vendor Awards to recognise excellence and innovation by global telecom hardware and software vendors. The first awards will be presented in London on the 5 May 2010.

The World Vendor Awards are the only independent and impartial awards to focus entirely on telecom vendors. They are open to all suppliers large and small, general and specialist, OEM's, communications sector equipment and software suppliers, IT companies and service providers.

The launch of these awards is in response to industry demand for recognition of the successes of the vendor community. They will be run on a similar model to the prestigious World Communication Awards, also produced by Total Telecom, that have built an enviable reputation as the blue chip mark of excellence in the sector for more than a decade.

The first World Vendor Awards are seeking nominations in 10 nominated categories including Outstanding Vendor of the Year, Clean Technology Initiative, and Technology Foresight, and one voted category Technologist of the Year. The deadline for entries is 18 December 2009 with the shortlist announced in February 2010.

The winners of the World Vendor Awards will be determined through the deliberations of an expert panel of judges, chaired by Anne Morris, Editor of Total Telecom, and we are delighted to have the support of PricewaterhouseCoopers as Founding Partner of the programme.

“Vendors are vital suppliers to and innovators for the global telecom industry and assist operators & service providers to launch new products and services and improve the experience for end users” said Rob Chambers, Publisher of Total Telecom.

Xavier Cauchois, European Technology Industry Leader, PricewaterhouseCoopers added: “We are delighted to be involved in these inaugural awards which recognise the achievements of both companies and individuals in the vendor community. It is important to identify those who are succeeding in these particularly challenging market conditions.”

The World Vendor Awards are a unique proposition and provide telecom vendors with the opportunity for recognition that has so far been denied to them. It is anticipated that in a short time they will become as sought after as the World Communication Awards.
