ITU sets 'green ICT' agenda

Speaking ahead of Telecom World 2009, standards body head Malcolm Johnson outlines the ITU's approach to climate change, and says the UN body is practising what it preaches.

ICT should be playing a much bigger role in helping to reduce global greenhouse gas emissions, but the lack of a global consensus on how to actually calculate current emissions means it is very difficult to set reduction targets.
