It's not a marathon it's a sprint

John Legere thinks T-Mobile US will overtake Sprint by the end of the year, but he faces a formidable opponent in entrepreneurial street fighting pirate Marcelo Claure.

Softbank CEO Masayoshi Son clearly did not get the memo about Sprint being on the back foot. After merger talks between Sprint and T-Mobile US collapsed this week, many industry observers – including this one – declared that the race for third spot was wide open. It wasn't exactly a controversial observation. T-Mobile added an impressive 1.5 million customers in the second quarter, while Sprint lost 334,000.
