Telco trinities and false profits

With Easter on the way, some industry players took a slightly biblical approach to innovation; others though are in need of a miracle.

With Easter fast approaching, people of a certain faith and people who love an excuse to feast on egg-shaped chocolate – so everyone, basically – are looking forward to gorging themselves into a diabetic coma. It is important to remember though that Easter isn't just about chocolate eggs, it's about getting time off work too. But before we can put our collective feet up and begin tucking in, there's some chunky telecoms news to digest first. The self-appointed saviour of U.S. mobile subscribers, T-Mobile chief John Legere, heralded a trinity of disruptive announcements this week. It started off modestly enough on Wednesday.
