America Movil faces raft of new regulations

Mexican telecoms powerhouse required to remove national roaming rates and barred from acquiring exclusive high-audience content rights.

America Movil late on Friday confirmed that it has been ruled to hold a dominant position in the Mexican telecoms market and shared details of the new regulations Ifetel intends to impose upon it, including asymmetric interconnection rates, rules governing infrastructure sharing and the hosting of MVNOs on its network, the elimination of national roaming charges for customers, and a ban on the acquisition of exclusive content rights.
