Trying to make future business models work along the lines of those seen in the past could amount to telcos shooting themselves in the foot.

All business faces disruption at various times–it’s a fact of life. The telecommunications sector is no different although that’s not always the impression industry observers would have on looking at some of the rhetoric of recent months, especially around the open Internet and over-the-top (OTT) players. There is no doubt the telco sector has its problems and this is most visible in its financial results.
