Finisar Corp.'s fiscal fourth-quarter loss narrowed on fewer goodwill impairment charges, but revenue and margins continued to feel the economic downturn.

Still, Finisar saw a marked improvement in revenues trends in the last several weeks, and added it believed fiscal first-quarter revenue should increase sequentially.

Broadband product producers, like Finisar, have been
